The Asociación Argentina de Productores en Siembra Directa (Aapresid) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization born out of a strong desire to protect farmers’ most valuable resource – the soil. The association is made up of a network of farmers who have adopted and promoted a new agricultural paradigm based on no-till practices.
Aapresid was founded on August 1, 1989, began as a small group of innovative farmers who put their faith in a different type of agriculture while overcoming resistance to change and playing an active role in the adoption of new technologies and to spread sustainable agriculture practices based on the intelligent and rational use of natural resources by facilitating access to information and technological innovation.
This new agricultural method aims to increase productivity without the negative consequences associated with conventional tilling practices. It is a response to the great dilemma between production and sustainability that humans face today: how to produce food, fiber, and bioenergy while keeping a balance between society’s economic, ethical, environmental, and energy need.
