REGRESAR

February 23, the Argentine Antarctic Day

The special day was commemorated in an act chaired by the Ministers of Defense, Agustín Rossi, and of Culture, Tristán Bauer, and the Secretary of Malvinas, Antarctica and the South Atlantic, Daniel Filmus.

Filmus assured: "We feel enormous pride in these 117 years of uninterrupted presence in Antarctica and 2021 is a very special year, because it marks 70 years since the creation of the Argentine Antarctic Institute, the world's first Antarctic institute, conceived with a vision strategic and for the future. It is also 60 years since the entry into force of the Antarctic Treaty and 30 years since the signing of the Protocol to the Antarctic Treaty on Environmental Protection ".

Argentina has thirteen bases in Antarctica, of which six are permanent.
